Edin Dzeko continued his strong start to life at Inter with his equalizer and solid performance in yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Atalanta at the San Siro, prompting comparisons to a legendary former striker.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who compare the Bosnian’s impact to that of Diego Milito after he arrived at the club at Genoa in the summer of 2009.

Dzeko could have arguably scored even more goals than he did against La Dea, having passed up a few presentable opportunities, but he proved effective at taking his opportunity for the equalizer to make it five goals in six Serie A appearances since joining from Roma over the summer.

Additionally, the 35-year-old’s all-around play was important to stitching together the team’s possession sequences in the final third and hold up the ball for his teammates.

The Bosnian was signed to help soften the blow of Romelu Lukaku’s departure, and he has had a similarly effective start at the club to Milito who had been brought in to help replace another big money sale of a world-class centre-forward in the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Neither Dzeko nor Milito can realistically claim to be as talented or as incisive as the men who they replaced in an Inter shirt, but in both cases it seems that they have been in the right place at the right time to show their best qualities and help carry the team forward.
