Shakhtar Donetsk CEO Sergej Palkin believes that Inter are the strongest team in the Champions League group containing his side, Real Madrid, and Sheriff Tiraspol.

Speaking to Shakhtar’s official site, the executive gave the view that the Nerazzurri are the team who have played the best football in Group D in the Champions League ahead of Real.

Inter will know that they have a tough matchup on their hands when they travel to Ukraine to face Shakhtar on Tuesday, but the Ukrainian side are also keenly aware that the Nerazzurri are a formidable side.

Despite losing their opening match of the group stage 1-0 against Carlo Ancelotti’s Real side at the San Siro, Shakhtar CEO Palkin believes that the Nerazzurri played the better football on the night, and that they are the most serious obstacle in the group.

He expressed the view that even after a difficult summer, he has been impressed with the football played by Simone Inzaghi’s side.

“They sold Romelu Lukaku, but they signed a couple of important players,” he said. “I saw the match with Real Madrid: even though they lost, they had chances were able to score two goals in the first half.”

He went on, “Inter are doing very well. Compared to Real Madrid, and this is the same pair as last season, I liked Inter much more than Real Madrid. Inter seem the best in terms of how they play. They have improved seriously and play good football.”
