Inter captain Samir Handanovic has received a message of support from the Curva Nord amid criticism of his form since the beginning of the season.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Curva unveiled a banner containing a message of support for the 37-year-old who has come under fire for some of his recent performances.

Handanovic was partly at fault for both Atalanta’s goals during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with La Dea at the San Siro, while he was spared further embarrassment when a late winner for La Dea that went through his fingers was ruled out by VAR.

This is not the first time that the Slovenian has come in for criticism over the season, and there have been calls for him to be dropped from the starting eleven and for a replacement to be sought.

However, the Curva Nord is not among the voices calling the captain into question, and have expressed their support, with their banner reading “Head up, chest up, Samir. La Nord is with you.”
