Former Inter midfielder Antonio Sabato believes that Edin Dzeko cannot replicate the scoring and assist numbers achieved by Romelu Lukaku last season for the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, as reported by FCInterNews, the former midfielder highlighted his view that there are certain situations in which the Bosnian is not able to be as decisive as Lukaku would have been.

Dzeko has already made his mark in a Nerazzurri shirt, scoring five goals in six Serie A matches leading some to suggest that the Nerazzurri do not miss Lukaku at all after the controversial sale of the Belgian to Chelsea.

However, the former Roma man is a different style of player than Lukaku was, and it remains to be seen if he can keep his scoring and assisting at this level with the extraordinary consistency of which Lukaku was capable.

Sabato doesn’t believe this to be the case, and thinks that the reason why can be observed in the Nerazzurri’s draw against Atalanta on Saturday.

“Dzeko in terms of numbers cannot hit the same level as Lukaku,” he said, explaining that “Today he had a bit of difficulty keeping up on the counter-attacks.”
