Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could drop out of the starting eleven for the Nerazzurri’s Champions League group stage clash against Shakhtar Donetsk tomorrow.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that one of Matias Vecino or Roberto Gagliardini could start in place of the Turk, with the former likelier.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is mostly expected to play an unchanged eleven from that which drew against Atalanta on Saturday, with the usual back three starting in front of Samir Handanovic, Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic trusted in midfield, and Edin Dzeko partnering Lautaro Martinez in attack.

Joaquin Correa and Arturo Vidal are not expected to be ready to play from the start despite being included in the squad, while Matteo Darmian and Denzel Dumfries should compete for the right-sided spot.

Calhanoglu has started in most of Inter’s matches this season, but Inzaghi could opt for more solidity in the central areas by selecting Vecino or Gagliardini ahead of him.
