Former Inter and Napoli midfielder Salvatore Bagni believes that only three serious contenders remain for the Scudetto in the form of Inter, Napoli, and AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Marte, the 64-year-old gave the view that his two former clubs and the Rossoneri are the only teams left in the Italian top flight with a real chance of going all the way, and that other teams are too far behind them to catch up.

Three teams remain unbeaten in Serie A, with Napoli maintaining a perfect record after six matches and the Milan rivals Inter and AC Milan four and two points behind them respectively.

Other sides had been tipped to compete for the Scudetto before the season, but Juventus’s start in particular looks to have made returning to the top of Serie A a tough ask, with the Bianconeri having collected only eight points from their first six matches, while Jose Mourinho’s Roma experienced their second defeat of the season during the Rome derby.

Bagni believes that it is the three unbeaten sides who have a shot at Serie A this season, stating that “After six days Juventus are ten points back, Roma is six – what are we talking about? There are only three teams that can win the championship: Napoli, Inter and Milan.”
