Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu could drop out of the Nerazzurri’s starting eleven against Shakhtar Donetsk later today, with Matias Vecino starting in place of him.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttsport, who report that the 27-year-old’s form in recent matches has not been convincing and that coach Simone Inzaghi could look to Vecino instead of the Turk.

Calhanoglu had a strong start to life in an Inter shirt, scoring on his debut for the club against Genoa and looking like he could be a strong addition to the Nerazzuri’s midfield.

However, in recent matches he has not looked as effective, and Inzaghi could instead turn to the qualities of Vecino who looked in good form off the bench against Atalanta over the weekend as well as having played well from the start against Bologna the weekend previous.

Meanwhile, the rest of the lineup against Shakhtar is expected to be the same as the team who started against Atalanta except for on the right where Denzel Dumfries could take the place of Matteo Darmian.
