Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi does not expect the Nerazzurri to have an easy game against Shakhtar Donetsk in this evening’s Champions League clash, and considers the Ukrainian side to be formidable opposition.
Speaking to Inter TV ahead of the match, Inzaghi gave the view that Roberto De Zerbi’s team are a strong possession-based outfit who can impose themselves on games, and that both sides will try and control the match at their preferred tempo.
Shakhtar brought in De Zerbi from Sassuolo over the summer, and the Italian tactician brought with him a reputation for fast-paced, technically proficient passing football which he has managed to impose on the club’s talented squad.
This season’s Nerazzurri team have also shown themselves to be a side who like to take the game to the opposition, but as Inzaghi made clear, this will not be an easy task against a highly motivated Shakhtar team.
“The match against Shakhtar is an important match against a team that has excellent individual players and plays great football,” he said. “I think both teams will want to play their game, we will have to be good at restricting them and trying to play our part.”
