Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will be hoping from strong performances from his key players against Shakhtar Donetsk this evening, with Nicolo Barella and Lautaro Martinez two players he will rely on to get the result needed.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Inter pair are two of the form players who Inzaghi will expect to have make the difference in the Champions League group stage clash in Ukraine.

Barella has had a strong start to the season, with his five assists putting him behind only Paul Pogba and Karim Benzema, on seven and six respectively, for assist totals in the top European leagues so far this season.

The 24-year-old’s performances have been crucial for the Nerazzurri so far this season, and Inzaghi will want to see him at his best again as they look to secure a vital result to get their Champions League group stage campaign back on track.

Meanwhile, Martinez has had his best ever start to a season, with four goals to his name so far for the Nerazzurri, and the coach will want him to deliver his best as well.

Barella and Martinez won the Euros and the Copa America respectively over the summer, and Inzaghi wants to see them maintain this level and is putting a lot of responsibility on the two players.
