Inter defender Milan Skriniar believes that the Nerazzurri must look ahead to their matches with Sheriff Tiraspol and focus on being clinical after a frustrating draw against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset after the Shakhtar clash, the Slovak defender expressed frustration at having failed to win the match despite having created chances to do so.
Inter did not create the volume of scoring chances against Shakhtar that they have done in recent Serie A matches, but they did manage to carve out a few good opportunities.
In the end, neither Inter nor Shakhtar managed to find the back of the net with the opportunities that they did create and the teams had to share the points after a hard-fought encounter.
Skriniar wants to get past this result by getting their first win of the competition against new boys Sheriff Tiraspol, and to get a foothold in their group.
“We wanted the three points, they would have been very important for us. But Shakhtar play good football and have a good coach. I’m happy not to have conceded a goal, but also disappointed because we could have won,” he reflected.
“We had chances,” he went on, “even their goalkeeper made big saves. We wanted to win, now we have to take three points from Sheriff because everything is still open.”
