Inter face a tricky group stage going forward after yesterday’s goalless draw with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, and they must look to take maximum points from their next opponents Sheriff Tiraspol and from Shakhtar at the San Siro.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who lay out the Nerazzurri’s position in Group D of the Champions League following yesterday’s round of results.

Inter were only able to take a point away from their trip to Ukraine, leaving them on one point, while Champions League new boys Sheriff ran out as shock winners from the Bernabeu, maintaining a perfect start to their first ever campaign in Europe’s top competition.

The Nerazzurri will know that the Moldovan side are not easy opposition, but they will need to target victories in their two upcoming matches with them if they wish to get their push for the knockout rounds back on track.

Should Inter beat Sheriff home and away, and get the better of Shakhtar at the second time of asking when the Ukrainians visit the San Siro, then their match against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu will not be decisive.

However, if the Nerazzuri are to struggle in their matches with the Moldovans then they could find that they risk failing to progress to the knockout rounds for the fourth successive season.
