Italian journalist Paolo Condo believes that Inter shouldn’t be too unhappy with a point against Shakhtar after a tough Champions League group stage clash.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the journalist gave the view that the Nerazzurri gave a solid performance away in Ukraine and are still well-placed sitting on two points in Group D after two matches.

Inter and Shakhtar shared the points after a match in which neither team were able to find the back of the net from the relatively few goalscoring opportunities that they created.

The two sides are now joint-bottom of Group D, with debutants Sheriff continuing their run of success in the competition with a shock win away to Real Madrid at the Bernabeu putting them at the top of the group and Real sitting on three points.

The Nerazzurri will know that their work is cut out for them now in a tough and unpredictable group, but they can at least be satisfied to have avoided another defeat against a strong Shakhtar team.

“The draw is not bad for Inter, it takes them away from the first qualifying place,” Condo said, “but they played against Shakhtar and got one point towards qualification. I tend more towards bad luck than to technical problems for the result, Inter he had the best chances and missed goals similar to those against Real.”

He went on that “They scored twenty league goals in the first six matches, and in the Champions League zero despite having many chances. It’s a serious fact, Dzeko had a great opportunity , Lautaro could take advantage of a sensational defensive error, the attackers let them down.”

“Inter had Shakhtar as a point of reference, now it’s all to be seen against Sheriff,” he concluded, “Skriniar was incredible and saved a goal, but Inter were more dangerous than Shakhtar and had the best scoring chances.”
