It appears that the architectural firm being hired to design the replacement for San Siro has been chosen, with Populous set to be the designers, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Corriere della Sera, architectural firm, Populous, will be chosen to complete the exciting but difficult task of replacing the historic San Siro with a more modern and purpose-built stadium and entertainment complex.

There are still elections to be held in Milan that will take place in October so no official decision is expected to be communicated to the fans until late October at the earliest.

It is believed, though, that meetings are scheduled to be held between the clubs and the developers for the day after the elections.

Inter and AC Milan will be hoping to bolster their matchday income with a new stadium better suited to the modern fan base.
