Ex-Inter and AC Milan player Aldo Serena has suggested that Inter will find it very hard to defend their Serie A crown without Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, and Christian Eriksen, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Juventus News 24, Aldo Serena explained that Napoli could actually be the team best placed to push on and win the Serie A title this season.

“Spalletti’s team has the characteristics to take it all the way.”

Aldo Serena also suggested that AC Milan could be a contender if they get knocked out of the Champions League. They have lost their first two matches of the group stage.

“The Rossoneri who, coming out of the Champions League, could bet everything on the championship.”

As for Inter, he believes that the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, as well as the absence of Christian Eriksen following his cardiac arrest in the summer at Euro 2020 will be too much for Inter to recover from.

“To repeat the title win without Lukaku, Hakimi and Eriksen, I think it will be very difficult.”

He also believes that Juventus are in too much of a rebuilding project to win the title.

“And even the Bianconeri are a bit behind. They are rebuilding and the start of the season was lacking.”
