Inter have not opened talks for Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter despite rumours in Germany, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by FcINternews, Inter are not currently interested in the defender who used to play for Borussia Dortmund.

If the Nerazzurri were to change their mind, though, the 27-year-old would be available on a free transfer as his contract is expiring.

There is still a chance that Inter will look into taking the player because there is a very real chance that multiple Inter defenders will leave the club in the summer.

Andrea Ranocchia and Aleksander Kolarov will be out of contract in June 2022 with Inter and with the club’s commitment to lowering the average age of the squad and the wage bill, it is very unlikely that Inter will attempt to offer them new deals.

That is where other free agents become realistic targets.
