Inter once again wasted valuable opportunities to win in the Champions League against Shakhtar Donestk on Tuesday night, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Luigi Garlando for La Gazzetta dello Sport, the story for Inter was much the same against the Ukrainian side as it was against Real Madrid on matchday one.

In that game against the Spanish team, Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko both missed great opportunities to score and they ended up losing the match late on through a Rodrygo goal.

This time against Shakhtar Donetsk, Nicolo Barella hit the crossbar with a long range effort, there was poor misses again from Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko, and there was two excellent saves made against efforts from Joaquin Correa and Stefan de Vrij at the end of the match.

As Luigi Garlando reports, Inter seem destined to miss the combination of Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku upfront.
