Italian journalist Luca Marchetti has suggested that Inter need to be more aggressive and cynical to win games in the Champions League, according to a report in the Italian media.

Whilst writing for TMW, Luca Marchetti explained that Inter have to be more ruthless and start taking the opportunities that come their way during big matches in Europe.

“Beyond the not particularly brilliant performance, when you have certain types of opportunities you have to take advantage of them.”

Inter has to be more cynical to win these matches and if they had managed to get a win in Ukraine on Tuesday night they would be in a much stronger position coming into the games against FC Sheriff Tiraspol.

“This is where the final leap in the maturation process of the Nerazzurri team starts: the ability to be cynical when needed.

“Because a victory in Ukraine would also have put Inter in a more comfortable situation in dealing with what was initially defined as the bottom of the group but which is now first.”

It is particularly difficult for Inter to progress now given FC Sheriff are top of the group with six points. It was expected that they would clearly be the team to finish last but now it opens that option up to Inter if they do not improve.

“The worst news for Inter does not come from the away match, where absolutely nothing was compromised, but from the sensational result in Madrid.

“Sheriff has no intention of playing the sacrificial victim, with anyone. And the result on the first day was not a fluke.”

Inter drew 0-0 with Shakhtar Donetsk on matchday two.
