Ex-Inter player Beppe Bergomi has revealed that he thinks Inter will get out of their Champions League group this season despite the poor start, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking in the studio for Sky Sport in Italy, Beppe Bergomi explained that the Nerazzurri will get out of their group because they will win both of the matches against FC Sheriff Tiraspol, who currently sit top of the group.

“I think that Inter will pass the Champions League round and that they will score six points against Sheriff because they are strong, even if I don’t know why Inter is struggling to win decisive games.”

As for Inter’s overall condition, the man who spent his entire career at Inter believes that the team is definitely weaker than it was last season now that Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku have been sold to Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea respectively.

“This year was meant to be the year of Inter. They had Lukaku and Hakimi, then they lost the best men.

“Many say they are stronger than last year, but I don’t think so. Even if they play good football and it is beautiful to look at, replacing those two is difficult for anyone.

“The club has done well, but from that point of view, it has taken a step back.”

Inter have only managed to register one point from their first two Champions League matches this season which puts them in a very difficult position.

There is serious money to be made by qualifying for the next round.
