Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez is still hoping to leave the club in the near future and his agent is confident that it could happen this winter, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with CalcioNapoli24.it, the midfielder’s agent, Pablo Bentancur, explained that the Cagliari President is going to be much more accommodating with letting the player join a new club.

“Giulini promised me and the player to do everything possible to get him to go away in the transfer market.

“Nandez wants to win something, he wants to play in the Champions League. The president gave us his word, Nandez was the most expensive player in the history of Cagliari, but we know the crisis that has taken place.”

There are supposedly two or three clubs that would be keen to buy the Uruguayan in January, but it is not clear if Inter are one of them. Napoli certainly are according to Pablo Bentancur.

“There are two or three clubs that will look for Nandez in January, including Napoli. I would be happy to see him in blue, definitely.

“But Giulini has now understood the situation, we hope that in January there may be some movement, we hope in the direction of Naples.”

The sticking block for Nahitan Nandez’s move to Inter in the summer was Cagliari would not budge on the fee they wanted for the initial one-year loan, so the deal could not go ahead.

Now, Pablo Bentancur believes that Tommaso Giulini will allow him to leave for a lower fee than his release clause.

“I think he will sell at a lower price than the one requested, there is a €36 million clause but yesterday the president has talked to Nandez and told him he will lower the price and let him go.”
