The anger that Marcelo Brozovic showed after being substituted against Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night was not directed at Simone Inzaghi, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, many were concerned that the bottle he kicked after coming off was in anger towards the Inter coach for the fact he had been substituted when he wanted to stay on the pitch and help the team.

It is now being reported that the Croatian midfielder was actually angry about a misunderstanding he had on the pitch with a teammate. The timing just happened to coincide with his substitution.

This is a relief to Inter fans as a dressing room rift between a key player and a new manager never tends to end well for anyone involved.

It could also have hindered Inter’s hopes of keeping Marcelo Brozovic beyond the end of his current deal.
