Legendary former striker Antonio Cassano believes that Inter deserved to take three points from their Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the 39-year-old gave the view that the Nerazzurri created enough chances against the Ukrainian side that they could have gotten a better result than the goalless draw which in the end the match finished as.

Inter did not play with the same attacking intent against Shakhtar as they have against many of their Serie A opponents, looking for more controlled possession when they had the chance to settle and dropping back without the ball to restrict Roberto De Zerbi’s men.

The outcome was a match in which neither side were able to find the back of the net from the limited opportunities created, though in Cassano’s view, the Nerazzurri’s chances should have been enough to see them get the better of their opposition.

“Inter deserved to win against Shakhtar because they had the best opportunities,” he said, “such as Barella hitting the crossbar or Dzeko’s good chance, but at that level of the game De Zerbi has made life difficult for you and has you playing a way from your best.”
