Former Inter head coach Roberto Mancini believes that this season’s Serie A will be very competitive with a handful of teams fighting for major honours at the top end of the table.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the current Italy boss gave the view that the Nerazzurri will face competition from a number of teams as they look to defend their Scudetto crown and finish top of the pile once again.

The Nerazzurri are among the strongest starters to this year’s Serie A season, behind only Milan and leaders Napoli, while the likes of Roma, Atalanta, and Lazio are among the teams hot on their heels.

Juventus, among the favourites for the Scudetto in the eyes of many, could have gotten their season back on track with consecutive wins against Spezia and Sampdoria although their poor start to the campaign has left them several points adrift in midtable, while teams like Fiorentina and Torino also look like they could be surprise form teams.

On his expectations for the season, Mancini said that “I have to say that I see a Serie A with 7-8 teams fighting for top spot, because I think Juve will return, it can be fun. The teams try to play well and this is important.”

And on whether he misses coaching, Mancini stated, “A little, when you play like this a little less frequently, and when you have to wait for March from November, it is difficult.”
