Inter recorded their 5th win in the Serie A this season after staging a comeback win away against Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium, winning 2-1.

After about 55 minutes of woeful football, the Nerazzurri turned things on their head when Edin Dzeko came on and scored and won a penalty which Lautaro Martinez converted.

Samir Handanovic – 7: Stefan owes Samir a lot, he made some great saves in the first half and did well to be on the pitch when De Vrij put Defrel through. Brilliant tonight.

Milan Skriniar – 5.5: Skriniar looked off from the first minute and it showed as Boga did a textbook move to win a crucial penalty off him. Maybe needs to get a week off.

Stefan De Vrij – 5: Possibly De Vrij’s worst game in Inter colors. Made 2 huge mistakes in the first half, more than what he did in all of last season. Needs a break too.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6: Sassuolo chose to attack from their left and Alessandro did not have a lot of defending to do. Played some great passes which couldn’t be converted.

Denzel Dumfries – 5.5: Denzel did very well in a lot of moments and deserved at least an assist from that Hakan free kick. Needs more time to improve his positioning overall.

Nicolo Barella – 6: Barella played a part in the move to led to Sassuolo’s penalty. More than made up for it with the second half performance. Doesn’t give up an inch.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5: Brozo is absolutely crucial to the way Inter play. Once Vidal came on, Brozo looked reinvigorated and played a huge inspirational role in the comeback.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu – 5.5: Hakan deserves appreciation for the effort he put in but was unable to help effectively both in attack and defense. His set pieces are almost a guarantee.

Ivan Perisic – 6.5: Ivan was in the right position throughout the game. Took a bit of time to get his final ball right but when he did, it sparked Inter into life. Top drawer.

Joaquin Correa – 5.5: Couldn’t get the ball in the right positions. The couple of times he got it, he was fouled or misplaced his pass. Needs more time to settle in.

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5: Dionisi’s plan to starve Lautaro of space worked very well until Dzeko came on. Showed calmness and nerves of steel by scoring a crucial penalty.

Federico Dimarco – 6: Yet another game where Federico came off the bench and helped changed the game around. Created havoc with the ball and stopped attacks for fun.

Arturo Vidal – 6.5: Vidal came on and energized the entire midfield. Made a few rash tackles but his attitude and experience played a huge part in the comeback. Classy.

Edin Dzeko – 7.5: Scored with his first touch and won a penalty by outpacing a defender. Not bad for a 35-year-old. Held up the ball and that helped the midfield out.

Matteo Darmian – 6.5: Nullified Boga when he came on. Made sure that Skriniar didn’t have to deal with the pace. Could have easily got an assist as well.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – N/A: Brought on as Sassuolo were throwing the kitchen sink at Inter towards the end. Made a few clearances but was never under any sort of pressure.

Simone Inzaghi – 6: Another game where Simone got his subs and the timing right. The defensive solidity is still a big question mark which must be worked on in training.

Luca Pairetto – 4.5: Lost control of the game completely in the second half and invited pressure onto him. The only positive is that he used the VAR well tonight. Poor.

Inter – 6: The game plan was completely thrown out of the window when the subs were made for the second consecutive game. The  squad showed its strength.
