Inter do not have the same qualities without Edin Dzeko on the pitch as they do when they can rely on the Bosnian to lead the line.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri’s comeback win against Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium illustrated how important Dzeko is to his team.

Dzeko came onto the pitch ten minutes into the second half, with he and three other substitutes given the remit of turning around a match in which the Nerazzurri were deservedly a goal down having been outplayed by Alessio Dionisi’s men for long stretches.

The Gazzetta note how the match was virtually a game of two halves between the Nerazzurri’s performance before and after the former Roma man’s arrival.

As the newapaper argue, the Nerazzurri looked more vulnerable than they have in some time during the first half of yesterday’s match, and there looked to be few solutions that would see them seriously stop the Neroverdi from dominating them all over the pitch.

By contrast, Dzeko’s addition to the team gave them a more confident look and saw them get the job done to disappoint Sassuolo.

The 35-year-old scored with his first touch to instantly cancel out the Neroverdi’s hard work in establishing a one-goal lead, but this was hardly the full extent of his display.

With Dzeko on the pitch Inter appeared to have a reference point in possession and made life more difficult for their opponents, and as the Gazzetta notes, they look to be a completely different outfit with him in the team.
