Italian coach and former AC Milan midfielder Roberto Donadoni believes that Inter are among a fairly evenly matched group of teams competing for the Serie A title this season, with Napoli and Milan beside them.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Anch’Io Sport, the former midfielder gave the view that these three teams are the strongest in Serie A right now but that Juventus can catch up to them.

Inter have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season, but their two draws after seven matches leave them two points behind city rivals Milan and four behind perfect Napoli.

Meanwhile, the Bianconeri look to have put a difficult start to the campaign behind them with three successive wins, and could aim to make up the deficit on their rivals as the season goes on.

Donadoni believes that it is still the three unbeaten teams at the top of the table who are the favourites to go on and lift the Scudetto this season, but he also believes that Juventus could catch up to them.

“On paper, Inter, Milan and Napoli are three likeliest possibilities that can be consideredwith their strengths and weaknesses,” he said. “Milan have found an important balance even without players like Ibrahimovic and Giroud. It is clear that Inter comes from a title triumph and therefore has an important awareness, even if the club’s troubles have created some difficulties.”

He went on, “Napoli is proving their worth with great quality. I would put these three possibilities on the same level, Juve are a bit late but in my opinion they will catch up. Even if it is indisputable that the first three are a bit ahead of them at the moment.”
