Former Fiorentina forward Francesco Baiano believes that Inter are among the favourites for the Scudetto this season, but that a number of teams can also challenge for it.

Speaking to Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 53-year-old gave the view that this season’s Serie A will see a balanced title race among a number of rivals, including Juventus in spite of their tough start to the season.

Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli side have enjoyed a perfect start to the season heading into the second international break of the autumn, with seven wins from seven seeing them top of the table.

There is still a long way to go, but the Partenopei are already being tipped as Scudetto favourites by many, while the Bianconeri look to have gotten themselves in contention with three straight wins following a difficult start, and the likes of Inter and AC Milan have also shown their quality.

Asked whether Napoli could win the Scudetto, Baiano replied, “Definitely yes, but there are other teams equipped to play for it. Juve can return because there are still many matches left to plays.”

“Then there are Inter, Milan, Atalanta and I also include Rome and Lazio,” he went on, “everything is still open. Of course, Napoli gave a strong signal with this start.”
