Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter do not yet have the necessary qualities to be Scudetto favourites and that they do not look like a complete team so far this season.

Writing in his column for Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera published in today’s print edition, Sconcerti gave the view that the Nerazzurri still do not have the right balance especially defensively, and that midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is not doing enough to affect games.

Inter are unbeaten so far in Serie A, but they have also looked to have struggled to find a foothold in certain games, and they are behind the likes of the two other unbeaten sides in the table, city rivals AC Milan and perfect Napoli.

Sconcerti is of the view that the Rossoneri and the Partenopei are still the two teams who look stronger than the Nerazzurri, and he especially sees this as being because they have found ways to make the best use of their squads, while he believes that Simone Inzaghi’s team have still not shown balance.

“Napoli and Milan are the best teams in the league at the moment,” he writes. “I don’t know what that means, maybe just that they use their characteristics better.”

He goes on that “Inter are conceding too many goals, they do not get through games without conceding. And they often suffer from the pressure of the opposition as they did in Verona, Florence, Reggio, at home against Atalanta.”

He concludes, “They still do not have a sure footing, they are not complete, they often slip in midfield where Calhanoglu is not to be found. Milan are more of a team and are the only one to have played three direct rivals (Juve, Lazio, Atalanta), the only matches that count for the ranking. Inter only played Atalanta, but without winning.”
