Inter wing-back Federico Dimarco has been called up by Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini for the Azzurri’s Nations League semi-final clash with Spain.

This is confirmed by an announcement on the FIGC’s official site, where it is announced that Dimarco will take the place of injured Atalanta midfielder Matteo Pessina in the squad.

The FIGC had initially intended to replace Pessina with AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali after Pessina had picked up an injury during yesterday’s Serie A clash between La Dea and Rossoneri, but in the end opted to have Tonali join up with the Under-21 squad instead, with Dimarco joining the squad in Pessina’s place instead.

Pessina has impressed with his performances for Inter since returning from loan with Hellas Verona in the early part of this season, with the 23-year-old featuring regularly in Simone Inzaghi’s teams, and he has been rewarded with his first call-up for the national side.
