Inter will sign Ajax goalkeeper on a free transfer next summer as their long-term successor to Samir Handanovic.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reported in a tweet that the move will be made official as soon as it is possible to do so.

Inter have been in search of a long-term successor for Handanovic, with the Slovenian having turned 37 in the summer, and Onana is one of the names to have been most strongly linked.

Di Marzio confirmed that the Nerazzurri are all ready to make the move for the Cameroonian next summer, and that it is only a matter of time before they can complete the signing.

Onana’s current deal with the Dutch champions is set to expire at the end of June 2022, and should he not agree on an extension with his current club then the Cameroonian will be available as a free agent next summer.

Asked, “Signing between Onana and Inter” Dimarzio replied, “As soon as it is possible to formalize, as said several times and for some time. The player is blocked.”
