Young Inter-owned defender Christian Dimarco is happy to see his brother Federico becoming an important first-team player with the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, the 19-year-old spoke of being inspired by his older brother’s success in the Nerazzurri, as they share the dream of making an impact with their boyhood club.

Christian is out on loan with Serie C club Fiorenzuola this season, and he is looking to start on the path that will eventually see him find a place with the Nerazzurri first team.

His brother Federico has already completed this path, having enjoyed two successful seasons out on loan at Hellas Verona to complete his footballing education before returning to Inter this summer where he has become a part of the plans in the first team.

The loan returnee has already made his first start for his boyhood club, as well as making multiple appearances from the bench and the start, as well as being called up to Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad for this international break.

Christian hopes that he too can follow in his brother’s footsteps and reach the Nerazzurri first team as an important player.

“Federico was very happy,” he said of his brother’s first start in an Inter shirt against Sassuolo, “playing for Inter and scoring a goal like that was his dream. In the family we went crazy. I was at lunch with the team, I rejoiced when it found the back of the net, I couldn’t look anyone in the face. We have a great bond, he comes first.”

Of his brother’s progress and mindset, Christian said, “Over the years he has had many problems between injuries and limited appearances, but he has always believed in himself. The difference is all in there – between those who fight and those who don’t.”

And on whether he feels that his brother’s success puts pressure on him, he stated that “I don’t see it that way, for me it pushes me to do better.”

On his dream for his career, he stated, “Making my debut at the San Siro, maybe taking over from by big brother.”
