Inter defender Federico Dimarco could make his debut for the Italian national team in their Nations League semi-final against Spain this week.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that national team boss Roberto Mancini is considering handing the 23-year-old his first appearance for the Azzurri.

Dimarco took the place of injured Atalanta midfielder Matteo Pessina in Mancini’s 23-man squad in a late change, with the coach looking to bolster his full-back options.

With Emerson Palmieri’s fitness a doubt, and with AC Milan’s Davide Clabria having taken the place of Rafael Toloi on the right, the Italy boss has turned to Dimarco.

The 23-year-old has impressed in the early part of the season, making himself a regular part of Nerazzurri manager Simone Inzaghi’s plans having returned from a loan spell with Hellas Verona.

Given the Azzurri’s issues in the full-back positions, it is possible that Mancini will decide to turn to Dimarco, with Inzaghi having already put his faith in the defender.
