Italian Coaching Association President Renzo Ulivieri believes that Inter are in a multi-team chase for the Scudetto, but that Juventus will not be in the hunt after their poor start.

Speaking to Naples-based regional broadcaster 1 Station Radio, the former Sampdoria and Napoli coach gave the view that the Bianconeri were too far behind but that any of Napoli, Inter, AC Milan, Lazio, or Roma could win it this season.

Napoli have set the pace at the top of Serie A with seven wins from seven, while city rivals AC Milan and Inter are just behind them among the undefeated teams with nineteen and seventeen points respectively.

The Rome clubs have also enjoyed encouraging starts to the season under their new coaches Maurizio Sarri and Jose Mourinho, and could show the necessary quality to get themselves into the race.

The Bianconeri, on the other hand, have looked shaky, and Ulivieri believes that even though they have looked to have steadied themselves with three wins on the bounce, their poor early form leaves them with too difficult a task trying to win the Scudetto.

“Napoli, partlythanks to Spalletti, is competitive for the Scudetto, but Juve will probably not be able to compete,” he stated. “There are also Inter, Milan, Lazio and Roma who will go up against the Azzurri.”
