Chilean national team head coach Martin Lasarte believes that Inter forward Alexis Sanchez can be deployed either as an attacker or as a midfielder.

Speaking to the press as reported by redgol.cl, the Chile boss gave the view that the 32-year-old has the qualities to play either as a forward, or in an attacking midfield role.

Sanchez’s position throughout his career has been somewhat fluid, always playing close to the final third but sometimes changing between a more attacking striker role and sometimes playing behind the centre-forwards in more of a creative capacity.

Now that he has returned to his national team from injury, the question has come up of what position he will play in for the Roja as they look to get themselves out of a tough spot in the table and qualify for the 2022 World Cup, and his coach believes that he can fulfill multiple roles.

“Sometimes he will be a striker and other times he will be a midfielder or a trequartista, if you want to define him like that. He could be used as a finisher.”
