Inter could be forced to terminate the contract of Alexis Sanchez in January as they look to find ways to reduce the wage bill amid ongoing financial problems.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri could look to get the Chilean’s substantial wages off their books as part of an effort to cut costs.

Sanchez is unsettled at the club, having recently made a social media post in which he appeared to hit out at the club over his limited playing time, and he could move on during the January transfer window.

The Chilean earns a net of €7 million annually, and the Nerazzurri would stand to save €10.5 million gross were they to part ways with the Chilean in January.

This could prove a cost-cutting measure, as the club continue to deal with financial problems related to the pandemic and to the debt and liquidity crisis at owners Suning.

Even after the massive sales of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku in the summer and after the loan received from US fund Oaktree capital, the Nerazzurri need large amounts of cash to keep themselves above water, and Sanchez could be sacrificed as part of this larger effort.
