Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal is set to miss the Chilean national team’s World Cup qualifier against Peru as the head coach Martin Lasarte looks to have him back fully fit for the subsequent two matches of the international break.

This according to Chilean broadcaster T13, who report that the 34-year-old will be rested in the hopes that he is 100% for the Roja’s qualifiers against Venezuela and Paraguay.

Vidal returned to action for Inter against Sassuolo on Saturday, coming off the bench to help his team to a comeback win at the Mapei Stadium, but he had missed several matches for the Nerazzurri prior to that having picked up a thigh strain prior to their clash with Bologna.

Lasarte wants the key midfielder to be fully fit in time for the qualifying matches against Venezuela and Paraguay and so he will allow him to rest rather than fly to Lima, as a precautionary measure.
