Inter will look to bring in Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca in the January transfer window should Alexis Sanchez depart from the club.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Neroverdi are in pole position to sign the Neroverdi man, who would be seen as a backup to Edin Dzeko in the squad.

Inter are currently reliant on Dzeko as a centre-forward, with the Bosnian having qualities which no one else in the squad really possesses, and the club could look to bring in a player of a similar profile to him.

Scamacca turned down offers from the likes of Sampdoria, Verona, and Cagliari in the summer to stay at his parent club in search of first team football, but so far opportunities have been limited for him under coach Alessio Dionisi, and he could be open to joining a new club.

Relations are good between Inter and Sassuolo, and Scamacca could be brought in on a loan with a purchase option, provided Alexis Sanchez is to depart in January as looks very possible given his situation at the club.

Pisa’s Lorenzo Lucca would also be another target as a Dzeko backup, but given his price tag and the interest in him from a number of major clubs, he could prove difficult to sign.
