Italian journalist Maurizio Pistocchi believes that Inter are among three teams who will contend for the Scudetto in this season, with the strength of their squad keeping them close to the top of Serie A.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Canale Otto, he gave the view that the Nerazzurri will likely be in contention with AC Milan and Napoli to win Serie A this season.
Inter have made an encouraging start to the season as they look to defend last campaign’s Scudetto crown, though their five wins and two draws still leave them two points behind city rivals AC Milan and four behind perfect Napoli.
This does not look to be a straightforward task for the Nerazzurri in the way that last season appeared to be, with the Scudetto having been wrapped up by a twelve-point margin, and they will have to show even more than they already have in order to get the better of formidable rivals.
However, the Nerazzurri have a strong squad, and have already shown that at their best they can make good use of the players at their disposal.
“Milan have shown more than all the others along with Napoli,” Pistocchi stated. “Even Luciano Spallett’s team are doing very well and I am not just talking about the victories, but also about the way in which they win.”
He continued, “In my opinion, there is also Inter. Simone Inzaghi’s team is struggling a lot and several victories have come after struggling. But the Nerazzurri are a team made up of top players.”
