Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has been criticised by part of the Italian press after his disappointing performance against Spain on Wednesday night, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by FcINternews, Nicolo Barella did not display his best form in the 2-1 defeat to Spain in the Nations League semi-final in Milan on Wednesday night.

The defeat means that Italy will miss out on a chance to win a second trophy in 2021, which could have been won in front of their own fans.

Nicolo Barella received a rating of five out of 10 from La Gazzetta dello Sport who suggested that he got lost in the endless possession of Spain’s midfield.

Corriere dello Sport also gave the Sardinian a five out of 10 rating, but Tuttosport were slightly kinder. They gave him 5.5 out of 10, suggesting that he just did not look like his usual self during the match.
