Inter have the power to terminate Alexis Sanchez’s contract a year early thanks to a clause they inserted when signing him from Manchester United, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by Calciomercato.com, the expiry of Alexis Sanchez’s Inter contract will take place in the summer of 2023, which in theory would make it harder to get rid of the Chilean.

There is a clause though, that states Inter can terminate the striker’s contract in June 2022 as long as they pay him a severance pay of around €4.5 million.

This could be a much more attractive prospect to the Nerazzurri directors than having to continue paying his huge wages right up until the expiry of his contract.

Of course, the best-case scenario for everyone involved is that Inter finds a club to buy him in the January transfer window and can get some or all of his wages off the books.
