Inter have received good news from the Argentina camp explaining that the striker’s absence from the team for the Paraguay match was precautionary, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported today by Sky Sport in Italy, Inter had been fearing the worst after it was reported that Lautaro Martinez had suffered a serious muscle injury and could be a doubt for the match against Lazio in Serie A.

Now there is some optimism that the striker will be it not only for Inter’s next match but for Argentina’s other World Cup qualifiers over the next week.

The injury appeared to have been caused by muscle overload owing to the fact that the striker has so far played in every one of his club and countries games this season.

It suggests that the player needs to be given more rest as he is not capable of sustaining this level of involvement through the entire campaign.
