Inter duo Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella have both been named on the shortlist for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award, according to a report in the French media this evening.
As has been reported by France Football, the thirty man shortlist contains two Inter players who won the Serie A title last season as well as ex-Inter striker Romelu Lukaku.
The list contains extremely decorated players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Karim Benzema, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Braut Haaland.
It is a testament to the incredible season that Inter had in 2020/21 and the general development of the club over the past six or seven years that they have two players and a recently departed player on the shortlist.
It is unlikely that either if Inter’s nominees will be given the award when the ceremony comes around but it is still an excellent achievement to be nominated.
