Inter’s young left back Federico Dimarco could be given a start for the national team against Belgium to give other players a much-needed rest, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport, the chance for a first ever Italy appearance for Federico Dimarco is on the cards after Italy were beaten in the semi final of the Nations League.

Italy lost 2-1 to Spain in Milan on Wednesday evening which means they must play in the third placed play off match of the Nations League. That will be against Belgium as they were beaten 3-2 by France on Thursday evening.

If Federico Dimarco does feature, it will be in place of Olympique Lyonnais left back Emerson Palmieri, who was linked heavily with Inter and Napoli over the summer.

There is a chance that Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella will be placed on the bench with Lorenzo Pellegrini starting instead.
