Legendary former AC Milan midfielder Zvodimit Boban believes that Inter have been able to move on from the sale of Romelu Lukaku thanks to the quality of Edin Dzeko.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the Croat gave the view that Dzeko’s partnership with Lautaro Martinez has meant that the Nerazzurri don’t regret selling Lukaku and puts them among the Scudetto favourites.

Lukaku’s shock sale at the beginning of August led to many speculating that Inter would not be able to maintain their level from last season, with the Beglian having been a highly important player and top of Serie A in joint goals and assists.

However, the arrival of Dzeko from Roma has given the Nerazzurri’s attack a different feel, and the relationship between the Bosnian and Lautaro Martinez on the pitch has already looked good and given a sense that the pair are getting the best out of each other.

On the Scudetto favourites Boban stated, “I say Napoli, then Inter. They have something more than the others. Technique, stamina, physicality, quality in possession – Napoli has it all.”

He went on, “I don’t like the three-man defense of Inter, it doesn’t allow you to control the pitch when you don’t have the ball, meaning you have to defend deep too many times. But the Dzeko-Lautaro duo is amazing.”

“Dzeko knows how to attack in behind, stop and get you through on goal,” he explained. “Lukaku was more disruptive, physically stronger but Edin is a great player. They won’t regret the sale.”
