Chilean football coach Jorge Valdivia has defended Inter forward Alexis Sanchez after his disappointing season so far for club and country, according to a report on social media.

Whilst writing on his Instagram page, as has been reported by FcINternews, Jorge Valdivia explained that he will always use a player of Alexis Sanchez’s calibre even if he is not playing too much for his club.

“I always put players of the calibre of Alexis on the pitch, even if they play little for their clubs. They wear the national team jersey and are beasts.”

He also added that Alexis Sanchez was not at his best in Chile’s 2-0 defeat to Peru on Thursday night and that was partly because ex-Juventus player Mauricio Isla was not in the squad.

“Today we did not see Alexis Sánchez at the top form, but sometimes he lights up the game. He missed a teammate like Mauricio Isla because Sánchez tends to lower himself a lot and, when the ball doesn’t reach him, he despairs.”

Alexis Sanchez had a rant on his Instagram page after Inter’s match against Sassuolo in Serie A because he felt he should have been bought off the bench to play a part for his team.

His outburst has damaged his reputation with the club and they now want to sell him immediately.
