Former Inter defender Daniele Adani believes that current Nerazzurri midfielder Nicolo Barella has proved that he can be an elite-level footballer.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, the 47-year-old gave the view that the 24-year-old is now a top player, while he also praised the impact that Edin Dzeko has had since his arrival from Roma.

When Barella joined Inter from Cagliari in the summer of 2019, he was considered a top talent in Serie A, but not yet fully mature as one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Since then, the 24-year-old has lived up to the potential he showed, growing each season to become an important player in last season’s Scudetto win before also playing a role for Italy in their EURO 2020 triumph, and this campaign he looks to be growing even more with his creativity a highlight for the Nerazzurri’s attacking exploits so far in Serie A.

He believes that Barella as well as summer arrival Dzeko are the reasons why Inter are living up to expectations, stating that “Inter are vindicating the predictions, Barella’s level is now that of a top midfielder, I have a particular esteem for Brozovic and I think Dzeko is making the difference, it’s clear.”
