Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi could be ready to return to the pitch against Lazio, and could play in the match should Lautaro Martinez be unable to start.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 25-year-old will be evaluated next week to see if he is ready to return in time for the Nerazzurri’s first match back after the international break.

Sensi has been out with a knee injury which he sustained in the Nerazzurri’s trip to face Sampdoria, but he has been working on his recovery process.

The 25-year-old is currently training separately from the rest of the squad, but should everything go well he could be back in full training next week.

Meanwhile, Martinez and the other South Americans in the squad may only be back from international duty hours before the trip to Rome to face Lazio, and their condition for the match could be a doubt.

Should Martinez as well as fellow Argentine Joaquin Correa be unable for the Lazio match, then Sensi could play in a similar role to the one he did in the Nerazzurri’s season opener against Genoa, as an attacking midfielder behind Edin Dzeko.
