Lazio striker Ciro Immobile is hoping that he will be able to return to the pitch in time to start against Inter when the Nerazzurri visit the Stadio Olimpico to play the Biancocelesti.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 31-year-old will undergo checks early next week which will shed light on whether he will be fit to face the Nerazzurri.

Inter travel to Rome to face Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio in their first game back after the international break, and they will not be sure yet what kind of test they will face defensively, with the Biancocelesti not certain as to whether they will be at full strength.

Their top scorer so far, Immobile has been dealing with a thigh problem, but he will hope that examinations on Monday or Tuesday yield positive results and he can return to the pitch as early as next Saturday’s Serie A clash.

Meanwhile, Biancocelesti midfielder Mattias Zaccagni looks to have recovered from an iliopsoas strain and should be available for selection to face Inter.
