Former Bayern Munich, Fiorentina, and Hellas Verona striker Luca Toni believes that Inter could put their difficult summer transfer window behind them and have a strong season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the former striker gave the view that the Nerazzurri could be a surprise after they appeared to lose important players in the summer.

Inter won the Scudetto last season in emphatic fashion, but after a summer of upheaval which saw Antonio Conte leave the club followed by the massive sales of Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku many predicted that they would struggle this season.

So far this campaign the Nerazzurri have looked strong under new coach Simone Inzaghi, though they have not managed to be the pace-setters in Serie A despite an unbeaten start and sit third, but Toni believes that after they can find their feet completely they could prove their doubters wrong.

“They are the team that has lost the most compared to last year,” he stated, “now they have to recalibrate. There is still time and they could surprise us.”
