Inter coach Simone Inzaghi could turn to Ivan Perisic in attack for the Nerazzurri’s Serie A clash with Lazio on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the coach could look for creative solutions given his lack of reliable options in attack.

Lautaro Martinez could start in attack alongside Edin Dzeko on Saturday but his participation could be in doubt thanks to his late return from international duty, while fellow Argentine Joaquin Correa is almost certain not to start especially in view of a minor muscle problem he picked up yesterday.

Alexis Sanchez arrives even later than the Argentine pair, early Saturday morning, and so the South Americans’ late arrival could leave Inzaghi searching for options in attack.

The coach has already dealt with similar situations during the situation, including having played Stefano Sensi behind Dzeko as a Number Ten, though Sensi is a serious doubt for the match as he is recovering from a knee injury.

Hakan Calhanoglu could take over the Number Ten role in a similar setup, but another possibility would be that Perisic starts in attack.

The Croat had finished the match against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in a forward position having been moved up from his usual wing-back role after second-half substitutions had been made, and it is from this position that he scored his first goal of the season, the Nerazzurri’s third in a 3-1 win.

Inzaghi could once again turn to a formation such as this which sees Perisic playing in attack rather than turning to Martinez so soon after he arrives from international duty.
