Italian journalist Federico Strumolo has clarified that the possible sale of Inter to the Saudi PIF from Suning is not yet a done deal after a report in Libero that it is close at hand.

The Libero reporter explained in a tweet that his report is based on the facts that he’s obtained about talks over a prospective sale but that it is not yet certain that the sale will happen.

The potential sale of Inter from current owners Suning to the PIF could have massive ramifications, with the Saudi sovereign wealth fund a wealthy and controversial potential owner who would likely steer the club in a different direction than they have been under Suning.

However, as Strumolo makes clear, no sale has been made and there is no certainty that it will take place, and the report was only based on the information that he has been given.

His tweet reads, “Regarding the article on #Inter#Pif, I want to clarify that in the piece it is not written that the club will certainly be sold to the Saudi fund. I do not want to deceive anyone, I simply write what I have been told.”
